How We Protect Realm Integrity on Splashgame Vanilla (Fólkvangr)

Fantasy scene showing a guarded realm with marketplace and game master figure symbolizing fair play, stable economy, and server integrity in a vanilla-style MMORPG

Realm integrity is not just about rules — it is about trust, consistency, and preserving the original Vanilla WoW experience. Many realms advertise “Blizzlike,” but then quietly change core systems, modify files, or introduce mechanics that shift gameplay in subtle ways.

On Splashgame’s Vanilla realm, Fólkvangr, our approach is simple: keep the core game intact, be transparent about the few additions we do have, and ensure that the world feels alive without rewriting Vanilla.

Below is the detailed version.

Our Core Principle — The Game Itself Is Untouched

100 percent original 1.12.x gameplay core

The server core is fully aligned with original World of Warcraft version 1.12.x. We do not modify core gameplay systems, spell behavior, class mechanics, or client-side game files.

What this means in practice

  • No custom class redesigns
  • No rewritten talent systems
  • No altered combat formulas
  • No hidden mechanical tweaks
  • No modified client files required
  • No injected custom abilities or systems

Everything behaves as close as possible to how Vanilla WoW functioned when patch 1.12.x was live in 2006.

If you want more background on why this matters, see:

Transparent Differences — What We Do Add (And Why)

We do have two clearly defined additions. They are not hidden, and they do not change the underlying rule system. Their purpose is to improve world activity — not to redesign gameplay.

Auction House Bot — A Living Marketplace

Vanilla economies can become unstable or empty on smaller realms. When supply collapses, crafting stalls. When demand signals disappear, gathering loses value. That hurts player progression.

To prevent a dead economy, Fólkvangr uses an Auction House bot.

What the AHBot does

  • Posts trade goods and commodities
  • Buys and sells based on supply and demand
  • Adjusts pricing dynamically
  • Keeps core materials circulating
  • Prevents empty auction listings

What it does not do

  • It does not inject rare raid gear
  • It does not flood the market with epics
  • It does not override player trading
  • It does not remove profit opportunity

Players still drive the economy — the bot stabilizes it so the marketplace feels alive instead of abandoned.

AI Player Bots — Group Play Without Rewriting Vanilla

Group content is central to Vanilla — but group availability can vary by time and timezone. Rather than changing dungeon difficulty or adding automated group finders, we use AI player bots as an optional support system.

You can invite up to four AI player bots

These bots are designed to behave like real players as closely as possible.

AI bots can:

  • Join your party
  • Quest with you
  • Run dungeons
  • Join battlegrounds
  • Chat and respond
  • Loot and roll
  • Use class abilities appropriately

They are not god-mode helpers. They follow normal gameplay rules and limitations.

Why this supports integrity instead of harming it

  • No dungeon difficulty reduction
  • No teleport systems added
  • No automated matchmaking tools
  • No class power inflation
  • No shortcut mechanics

The Vanilla structure stays intact — you simply gain flexible group composition when needed.

No Hidden Systems, No Surprise Mechanics

Realm integrity is also about predictability.

We avoid:

  • Silent rule changes
  • Undocumented mechanics
  • Custom power systems
  • Pay-to-win features
  • Progression shortcuts
  • Gear injection events

If something differs from baseline Vanilla behavior, we state it openly.

Community Health Is Part of Realm Integrity

A technically correct server can still fail if the environment is not maintained.

We prioritize:

  • Active oversight
  • Fair play enforcement
  • Anti-cheat measures
  • Bot and exploit monitoring
  • Clear rule enforcement

Integrity is not just code — it is culture and consistency.

Why We Chose This Model

Some realms solve low population by changing mechanics. Others solve economy issues by injecting items. Others solve grouping by automating everything.

We chose a narrower path:

Preserve Vanilla systems

Add only what keeps the world alive

Change nothing in the core game rules

That balance keeps the experience recognizable while avoiding the most common failure points of small or mid-sized realms.

  • The 1.12.x core is preserved
  • The economy stays active
