In the cozy interior of The Gilded Rose Inn, three victorious heroes of the Alliance celebrate after their triumph in Warsong Gulch.

Chapter 4: The Battle Intensifies

The chaos of battle swirled around them like a storm as the Horde and Alliance clashed relentlessly in the center of Warsong Gulch. Wy crouched low behind a fallen log, her sharp eyes scanning the battlefield for openings. Arrows flew from her bow with deadly precision, each one finding its mark amidst the chaos. Her wolf, a dark blur of fur and muscle, darted ahead, tearing into Horde soldiers before vanishing back into the shadows.

Beside her, Thieme moved like a shadow, his form barely visible as he slipped between the combatants. His daggers flashed in the dim light, slicing through Horde defenses with deadly efficiency. Thieme’s face, usually brimming with a cheeky grin, was now etched with focused determination.

“We’re makin’ progress, but they’re startin’ to push back hard,” Wy muttered, notching another arrow and loosing it into the back of a Forsaken rogue attempting to sneak up on an unsuspecting human paladin. “Salove’s holdin’ ‘em together.”

“Aye, she’s tough, that one,” Thieme agreed, his voice low. “But she’s not invincible. We’ve got ta keep her occupied while Aritzaga goes for the flag.”

Wy nodded. “We’ll split their attention. You head for the Horde flag room and keep the guards busy. I’ll stay here and take out anyone who gets close ta our flag.”

Without another word, Thieme melted into the shadows once more, making his way toward the Horde base. The plan was simple: sow chaos, keep the Horde defenders distracted, and give Aritzaga the window she needed to grab the Horde’s flag. But simple plans rarely stayed that way in the heat of battle.

Wy’s eyes flicked to the battlefield, where Salove, still in her fearsome bear form, was plowing through Alliance soldiers like a force of nature. Her roars echoed through the Gulch as her massive paws sent warriors flying. Wy knew she had to act fast.

Taking a deep breath, Wy reached into her quiver and pulled out a special arrow—one tipped with enchanted steel, designed to pierce through even the toughest of hides. She notched the arrow and took careful aim, her focus entirely on the massive Tauren druid.

In the split second it took to release the arrow, Salove had already sensed the attack. She turned her head just as the projectile flew toward her, but it was too late. The arrow struck her in the shoulder, sinking deep into her thick fur and hide. Salove let out a thunderous roar of pain, staggering slightly but refusing to fall.

“That’s right, big girl,” Wy whispered. “Now ya got my attention.”

The distraction worked. Salove’s focus shifted away from the frontlines, her blazing eyes locking onto Wy as she charged forward with renewed fury.
